St. George Terroir Gin - 70cl - 45% ABV
£35.60
St George Distillery, based in the Bay Area, California, is as old as the hills when it comes to craft distilling, having been established by ex-pat Jorg Rupf way back in the 1980s. It wasn't until Rupf handed the reigns over to distiller Lance Winters in 2010, though, that the company really took off down exciting new avenues, releasing whisky, absinthe and – best of all – a fantastic Gin range.
As a Gin shop, we get asked an awful lot what our favourite Gin is. As a Gin shop, it wouldn't be wise to answer, but if you're after the most magical, the most distinctive and transportive gins on the market, St George Terroir is right up there with the best of them. Inspired entirely by the botanical bounty of California, the gin is nothing short of a love story.
With thick, earthy forest-floor pine notes, bay laurel and sage, it's a dark green trip through the forest. You can almost feel that shady relief closing in on you as you sip and sniff. There really is nothing else like it – it's like taking a walk on a mountain trail, but sniff a little deeper and you'll find a bright and spicy cinnamon along with a warm, citrussy hint of roasted coriander seed. It's unreal.
To serve: Double garnish with a hit of lemon and a couple of bay leaves.
