Lillet Blanc - 75cl - 17% ABV
With a history dating back to the 19th century, this is one of the world's favourite apéritif wines.
Lillet belongs in a family of aperitif known as tonic wines because of the addition of a liqueur of Peruvian Cinchona bark which contains quinine. Lillet is often considered a vermouth, however it is not for 2 reasons; it contains liqueur, and there's no wormwood (artemisia, in German vermut, from which the word vermouth derives).
Made from a base of Semillon and Sauvignon Blanc grapes and matured in oak casks, Lillet Blanc is the brand's core product with all the freshness of a bright aperitif. There are flowery aromas wafting up, while to taste candied oranges, honey, pine resin and exotic fruits combine for a fleshy, fresh flavour.
Serve it neat over ice or with soda and a zest of lime and some mint for a refreshing drink.
NEGRONI ADVICE -
Perfect for floral or lighter gins in a White Negroni - our favourite is with Warner's Honey Bee Gin and Kamm & Sons Bitters.
