6 O'clock Gin - 70cl - 43% ABV
Bramley & Gage is a small distillery based in Bristol. Originally fruit farmers, the family behind this ever-growing range of spirits began their distilling journey as they tried tom find ways to preserve the fruits they were farming – those that weren’t selling quick enough, or those too bashed to use. Needless to say, once they hit upon the idea of turning their fruit into booze, they sacked off the other stuff altogether.
6 o’clock Gin, their card carrying flagship, is a pretty classic gin, albeit one with a heavy dose of lemon citrus. When they launched the gin back in 2010, it fels pretty Avant Garde. Yes, juniper shines, but that sense of otherness was a totally alien concept back then. To today’s drinkers, however, this is something both special and familiar, holding true to the tasting traditions of Gin but daring to do its own thing, albeit lightly.
Light is the word – this is a light gin that makes for a super refreshing G&T.
To serve: Elderflower tonic and a twist of lemon peel.
