With a shared a passion for the best in food and drink, Maximilian Wagner, Philipp Schladerer and Sebastian Brack joined forces to create BELSAZAR Vermouth. This young German brand is now ready to stand up and be compared with the best vermouths in the world, and we for one, feel it delivers impeccably when pairing with Gin. Fresh, bright and packed with flavour, their range is a must try for all booze hounds.
Belsazar Vermouth Red –
The ruby-red BELSAZAR Vermouth Red (18% ABV) captivates with its warm notes of vanilla, candied orange peel and bitter chocolate. Not too bitter, but with enough depth to make a cracking Negroni, this vermouth suits both classically styled gins as well as those with big floral elements.
Belsazar Vermouth Dry –
While BELSAZAR Vermouth Dry (19% ABV) is a dry variety and the strongest alcohol percentage-wise of their range. Delicately scented, quite fruity and floral to taste (apricot and chamomile), before the bitter aromas kick in and gentian, coriander, wormwood and cinchona bark leave their mark. Create for classic Martinis, especially with a juniper lead spirit like No.3 Gin.
Belsazar Vermouth Rose -
With pink grapefruit, orange blossom, raspberries and redcurrants bring out the flavourful top notes and give the light BELSAZAR Vermouth Rosé (17.5% ABV) its colour. An interesting vermouth to use it alternative, lighter Negronis (for example, with G'Vine & Aperol).
Belsazar Vermouth White -
Golden BELSAZAR Vermouth White (18% ABV) transcends the border between sweet and mild, with a beautifully subtle vanilla aroma, amply supported by the ever-popular dried peach and orange elements. These warming orangey elements particularly well suited to Gins like Shortcross, where it accentuates the rich berry tones inherent in the gin. The bitterness at the end of the vermouth leaves a satisfying length to the finish and a touch of spice. On its own or with gin, this is quite simply, delicious.
