Dartmouth English Gin - 70cl - 45% ABV
Handcrafted at Calancombe Estate by Lance and Caroline Whitehead, this recent release has created a huge impact since its launch in August, winning Craft Gin of the Year 2018 in its first few months.
The gin is a reflection of the area and of what is abundant around their family home. Their families' past has been woven into the fabric and history of Dartmouth and the surrounding area for centuries – shipwrights, master mariners, Brixham trawler men; builders and captains of sailing and steam ships that voyaged from Dartmouth delivering cargo and passengers cross the oceans. And now, they embark on a new path, as gin makers.
They feel that in Dartmouth English Gin they “have created a contemporary classic gin that reflects our maritime heritage, bearing the name of one of England’s most iconic harbours.”
To taste, gentle floral notes of lavender and rose are weaved with fragrant rosemary and kaffir lime leaf and a round orange and grapefruit hit. It leads into bold juniper that combines with clear, verdant pine. Grains of paradise, cardamom and cubeb berries bring a lively and enduring spice spice to the finish. A spectacular flavour journey and incredibly smooth too.
To serve: We like a rosemary and grapefruit dual garnish.
